Yesterday, we showed you the two amazing projects we have at Scope Miami Beach: Cleon Petereson's "Paint the Town" sculptures and Grotesk's "Juxtapoz Newsstand." Today, we take a look at the booths and galleries associated with the Juxtapoz Presents x Scope programming, as well as some highlights from around the fair. If you come by the Newsstand this week, be sure to get a copy of the special newspaper we have to highlight the program.

We stopped through FOG Design+Art at the Fort Mason Festival Pavilion last night in San Francisco. Presented in collaboration with the SF Museum of Modern Art, the fair featured important 20th-century and contemporary design dealers from across the country and beyond as well as a selection of leading modern and contemporary art galleries. Furniture, fine art, and design objects representing design movements from the last century to today are presented throughout the space. Along with a series of special events, the pavilion will be open to the public this weekend so make sure you check it out!

This week in China kicked off the first edition of Art Basel Hong Kong, the world's most famed art fair that has already taken over Basel, Switzerland in June each year and Miami in December. This particular edition focuses primarily on Asia and Asia-Pacific galleries, given us at Juxtapoz a chance to see new talent and new artists that we have yet to see in person. Yesterday, we took a walk through the first floor of the Hong Kong EXPO center...

This past weekend, Balboa Park's Activity Center hosted Art San Diego, San Diego's annual art fair. San Diego is not a bad place to be in the beginning of September, not only did the region offer pleasant weather (which at times got a bit hot inside the Activity Center), but also some great showings by some of the area's finest art exhibitors like Quint Contemporary Art and Double Break, among a few others.

Earlier this month, Mark Whalen (maybe you know him as Kill Pixie) had a grouping of new works on display with Edwina Corlette Gallery at the Melbourne Art Fair. We have done a lot with Mr Whalen over the past year (videos, studio visits, magazine features) but we think this is the first time we have seen basketballs in his work. We could be mistaken, but we think not.

Yesterday we attended the opening party and press preview of ArtPadSF at the Phoenix Hotel, a unique art fair situated around a pool with each gallery occupying a hotel room surrounding an open courtyard. Galleries such as New Image Art, Robert Berman, the Luggage Store, 111 Minna, Gregory Lind all had strong "rooms," showcasing a blend of both classics and up-and-coming talents.
