Before heading back home to San Francisco we made one last stop at Pulse Miami to say hi to our friends at New Image art, see works by Richard Coleman, Cleon Peterson, Retna, and Maya Hayuk as well as check out the always impressive Peter Hugo at Yossi Milo gallery and many more great artworks throughout the fair! See some of our favorites after the jump...

Yesterday, we showed you the two amazing projects we have at Scope Miami Beach: Cleon Petereson's "Paint the Town" sculptures and Grotesk's "Juxtapoz Newsstand." Today, we take a look at the booths and galleries associated with the Juxtapoz Presents x Scope programming, as well as some highlights from around the fair. If you come by the Newsstand this week, be sure to get a copy of the special newspaper we have to highlight the program.

In the entryway of SCOPE Miami Beach 2014, Juxtapoz invited Los Angeles-based fine artist Cleon Peterson to create sculptures based on his latest print release, Paint the Town. Working in conjunction with Pretty In Plastic, Peterson designed 8-foot tall, 3D reinterpretations of his menacing, dancing works. The following is an excerpt from the Juxtapoz October 2014 cover story with Peterson.

Yesterday we presented the first installment of photographs and videos from the collaborative venture between Italy-based artist, 2501 and Argentina-based artist, Pastel entitled the “MIRRORLESS PROJECT.” Amidst this year’s annual mural painting influx that occurs in the Wynwood District of Miami during Art Basel, these two artist’s constructed several unconventional installations on a number of residential houses in the area (four in total).

Amidst this year’s annual mural painting influx that occurs in the Wynwood District of Miami during Art Basel, a very different, offbeat installation project transpired between artists 2501 and Pastel entitled “MIRRORLESS PROJECT.” Creating spatial interventions by using objects and paintings that include mirrors, this project materialized with the residents of Wynwood in mind and with the aim in bringing awareness to the tension spawning from the rapid shifting changes over the last few years.

Not that we want to deter you from looking at these images, but no picture will do this exhibition justice. I can go on and on about how intriguing the work is, how the Chapman brothers have perhaps made the biggest noise during Basel week in Hong Kong, but even that would not give enough credit to how incredible the diorama pieces of The Sum of All Evil really are.

Victoria F. Gaitán uses human meat puppets in flesh and blood still lifes. We came across her work out at Art Basel Miami this past weekend, with Mayer Fine Art. The images are calling-cards from explorations of internal worlds, illness, in-between states, shared delusions and hells, stillness, memory, interpretations of pain, private and public intimacies, trauma, beauty, conditioned responses and gender and race in relation to objectification and ornamentation.

We came across the intricate renderings of Claire Burbridge with Toomey Tourell Gallery at the Aqua art fair art Art Basel Miami this past weekend. 'To describe Claire's style of work is as difficult as trying to define the ocean. Her art has a spontaneity that comes straight from the heart and yet is equally concerned with the minutiae of intricate detail...'

One of the most shocking and explicit displays we saw at this year's Art Basel Miami was from internationally renowned artist Kevin Berlin. With Mark Miller Gallery at the Aqua Art Fair, Berlin's works can also be found in the collections of Kim Basinger, Luciano Pavarotti, David Letterman, Bill and Hillary Clinton...

You could spend an entire day in Art Basel Miami Beach, the main and signature fair of what has become the world's biggest art week each year. After all the parties, the special projects, and even all the celebrity gossip, we are all here to see the main fair, and this year Juxtapoz decided to just wander around, take it all in, and capture just a few things that caught our eye.
