Here's a fun video to round out your Monday afternoon, and it might even inspire you to beat the heat and go skinny dipping. This series of animated walks and runs, created using Flash by German-born, London-based animator Felix Sputnik, is a simple yet impressive exercise in basic locomotive techniques, featuring various animated female models to demonstrate the physics of movement, including the sway and bounce of the naked body as it runs, walks, and skinny dips with gleeful abandon. 

Queens of the Stone Age have been pumping the promotion of their new LP, ...Like Clockwork, all over the web over the past month, and we have been excited to see one of our favorite artists, Boneface, get the attention he deserves. The artist created the album cover artwork for QOTSA, and now has over 15 minutes of animation going along with Queens' new music. Epic. 

For his MFA Computer Art Thesis at School of Visual Arts in NYC, Daniel Sierra explored and visualized "waveform patterns that evolve from the fundamental sine wave to more complex patterns, creating a mesmerizing audio-visual experience in which sight and sound work in unison to capture the viewer's attention." I flew on Virgin America on Monday, and their airplane/flight safety video is one of the better ones in the industry if you think a bit of irony and humor is good with your "danger, your seat can't float ,you will drown" scenario you face with while they serve you white wine and diet coke on your way to San Francisco. Tom Sachs, one of the more innovative and interesting big wig artists of the moment, created a safety video for luxury private jet company, VistaJet. Who says stop-motion and Barbie doesn't equate to feeling safe? 

Jake Fried creates his experimental animations by slowly adding countless layers to his illustrations. His materials include White-Out, coffee, ink, gouche, and paper. The Boston-based artist hand-drawn style and unpredictable stream-of-conciousness content are almost overwhelming...

The Walt Disney Family Museum is pleased to present the exhibition Camille Rose Garcia: Down the Rabbit Hole. On view from May 9 to November 3, 2013, the exhibition features some 40 works by Garcia alongside ten Alice in Wonderland concept paintings by Disney artist Mary Blair from the Museum’s collection. Organized by guest curator Tere Romo, the exhibition celebrates not only Garcia and Blair’s artistry across decades and artistic styles, but also the power of art to draw us into magical worlds that spark engagement and inspiration.

We are now officially in Beastie Boys month in conjunction with our very special June 2013 issue, and we kick off the festivities with this fantastic animated treatment of a classic BB's interview from 1985. PBS' Digital Studios took the interview and put it through their "Blank on Blank" series, and the result is the Beastie Boys animated by Patrick Smith, saying things like "There's a way we talk and it includes profanity. We never figured we'd be arrested for it." Enjoy!

Lauren YS, who we have put on the site in the past, has captured some of her excellent Moleskine sketches via a stop-motion animation designed to showcase the work of numerous years into one single view. The pages themselves are changing chronicle of development, showing the sketches and how they have evolved over the years. Thank you to our Juxtapoz Latin America staff for the find.

As we showed you earlier on the site today, Los Angeles-based Gary Baseman will be opening his first solo musuem survey this week at Skirball Cultural Center. In conjunction with the opening and our 10+ years  of covering Gary's work in the magazine, we look back on a classic article we had in the Jan/Feb 2001issue, #30, where Cleatus Broadus (yep, things were silly in 2001) catches up the "Dumb Luck" of Baseman. Congrats Gary on the museum show....
