FriendsWithYou: "Cloudy"

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, July 25, 2012
We saw this last week, and forgot to mention it here on the site! Miami-based artists, Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III, aka FriendsWithYou, just created this short animatio, Cloudy, featuring their signature style and minimal character design with a playful, soulful piece. Or as FWY say, "a sweet, visual soundscape that takes the viewer through a personal journey into the sky. Sing, dance and relax as you follow a cast of clouds and raindrops through an entrancing adventure you'll wish to take over and over again."

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, July 17, 2012
Tim Burton brought his latest addition to his hallowed filmography to Comic-Con this year. Frankenweenie is the loving tale of a boy and his dog.Of course, this is a reanimated Frankenstein patchwork dog, but a dog non the less. Shot in stop motion (and all in black and white), Frankenweenie started out as a short film created by Burton in 1984, but for Comic Con, he brought the original puppets, set pieces, and props from the film to a mini exhibit available for the public to see.

Comic Con 2012: Sights & Sounds

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, July 17, 2012
Needless to say, Comic-Con brings out a unique group of people. People who leave their homes dressed in painstakingly created costumes without fear of embarrassment, people who covet and swoon the latest toy releases well beyond their childhood years, and those who wish to talk about subject matter usually restricted to Internet message boards (and maybe your mother's basement). But, we love it.

Ori Toor's Hypnotics

Illustration // Thursday, June 21, 2012
Hypnotizing and alluring- the digitally illustrated animation loops or Ori Toor will suck you in. With his stimulating repetitive movements in color and form, these short teases for an upcoming project of Toor's might be the most tantalizing thing my eyeballs have seen all week. Love.

Fresh from the mind of Australian painter, illustrator and animator Lluis Fuzzhound comes a new animated short called "Marooned on Watango Island." Fuzzhound grew up eating Cocoa Pops and watching cartoons everyday afterschool and it shows. His short is a wonderful throwback to the old Cartoon Modern style, complete with jazz, tiki and good old-fashioned desert island hijinks.
