The highly talented painter and good friend of Juxtapoz, Andrew Schoutz, has been sweating in the Los Angeles heat as he paints the brick wall exterior of Mark Moore Gallery. Schoultz began painting the mural yesterday in what will be his first public art mural in Los Angeles. We will be following the progress and keep you updated as the mural develops.

Ryan Travis Christian curates "Where My Cones At?" @ Double Break, San Diego

This Friday evening, July 27, Double Break in San Diego will be opening its new group show curated by Ryan Travis Christian. The show, titled Where My Cones At?, is definitely worth a visit, featuring Juxtapoz's cover artists Eric Yahnker and Andrew Schoultz, as well as other artists featured in the magazine like Jason Jagel. Double Break's walls will be jam-packed with artwork from many esteemed artists whose work will also be available in Double Break's online store.

San Francisco-based Andrew Schoultz, who was the cover artist of our March 2012 issue, will be opening a new solo show, Ex Uno Plura, at Eric Firestone Gallery in East Hampton, New York on Saturday, June 23, 2012. Hopefully its close to the neighborhood in Revenge. The works will include a focus on  the nature of, and visual commentary on the American flag.

March 2012 cover artist, Andrew Schoultz, and past featured artist and collaborator on our Detroit project, Richard Colman, both opened bodies of new work in Destroyers at Cooper Cole in Toronto. We showed you a preview of Schoultz' mural this past week, and now we have looks at all the paintings in the show. Destroyers is the first time the San Francisco-based artists have shown in Canada.

Yesterday morning, fresh off a red-eye from San Francisco, we headed to the preview of the Pulse Contemporary Art Fair New York. Full of strong rosters of international artists and galleries, the highlights included Geoff McFetridge at Cooper Cole, Rena Bransten's booth, Narwhal Projects, Porter Contemporary, and some very colorful works by David LaChapelle.

This past Saturday night in Santa Monica, Copro Gallery opened a special exhibition, Juxtapoz Turns 18, a retrospective and collection of artworks and artists who have helped shape our publication over nearly two decades. Hundreds upon hundreds of artists and gallery-goers made it out to the opening, enjoying a look at what has made the magazine a leading voice in underground and contemporary art for 20 years.
