Juxtapoz // Monday, July 28, 2014
Benny Gold, contributor and friend of Juxtapoz, featured in our March issue, has become a San Francisco staple for his artfully designed clothing. He is now trying his hand as a curator. Gold sent blank airplanes made of balsa wood to artists all over the world. Each artist painted, carved, burned, and otherwise made each airplane into singular works of art.

Maybe you picked up a copy of the July 2014 issue of Juxtapoz and saw a great interview and feature with Vancouver artist, Andrew Pommier. We have enjoyed the man's work for years (he even did a Juxtapoz t-shirt back in the day), and we are happy to coincide our feature in the print mag with Andrew with his new show, "Shoulder to Shoulder," at Okazi Gallery in Berlin that opens on July 3, 2014.

Andrew Pommier’s art is like an old buddy from grade school, charming and full of mischief. His imagery resonates in our hearts because, like life, it’s a mix of light and dark, cute and tragic. “It’s funny because it’s sad,” has been a frequent response to his work, but he’s heading in a new direction.

Following on the June 2014 issue with Mark Ryden, the July issue features another pillar of Juxtapoz's growth and international success over the past 20 years: Shepard Fairey. Amazingly enough, Shepard had only been on 1.5 covers in our two decades of publishing, and with a brand new body of work currently on display at the Halsey Institute in Charleston, South Carolina, works that were curated to sit alongside prints by Jasper Johns.

A few weeks back, we told you about Andrew Pommier's new show in Tokyo, but we thought it may be a good time to showcase some of Pommier's 2013 selection of paintings and sketches on the site today. As always, Pommier has his original and interesting take on a figurative portrait, and we love what he has been doing over the past few years with his fine art.

RVCA Japan presents a solo art exhibtion of RVCA ANP (Artists Network Program) artist Andrew Pommier. His first solo show in Japan, "Where We Find" opened on Wednesday, December 11th and will continue through December 13th at Diginner Gallery in Tokyo.
Juxtapoz // Friday, June 29, 2012
We had a great stop by in the office this week; Vancouver-based fine artist Andrew Pommier was in town finishing a mural at Juice's office, and he stopped by to see us at Juxtapoz and Thrasher. Pommier has really changed his style over the past few years, and his At The Time of Fear body of work from 2010 and new works from the last year have caught our eye.
