This past week Andrea Wan opened a solo show, "Mirror Mirror," at Rabbit Eye Movement Art Space in Vienna. Bon in Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver, Wan is a Visual Artist and Illustrator with a passion in storytelling. Andrea Wan just unveiled a new series of pieces for her solo exhibition entitled "Fakelore" for Pictoplasma Berlin 2013. Wan's illustrations have been featured in numerous publications and commissioned by a range of different companies including Lululemon, The New York Times and NUVO Magazine. This series detailes a strange, whimsical journey of imagined creatures through a jungle-like landscape, encountering ghosts, cacti, disembodied head-girl-tepees and the occasional sloth using a laptop. Wan combines a storybook aesthetic with strange combinations of animals and plants to create a "Fakelore" of imagined stories for a strange age of storytelling.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Canada, Andrea went to Emily Carr University of Art and Design where she received a degree in Film, Video and Integrated Media. With a strong passion in storytellingvand image making, she went on to study illustration and design at Designskolen Kolding, Denmark. Andrea is currently working as an illustrator and visual artist in Vancouver, BC.
