A collaboration of body painter extraordinaire Alexa Meade and performance artist Sheila Vand, involving the before-mentioned body painting work before Vand lies in a pool of milk. Both in still and video images, this is a particularly interesting collaboration, where the subject comes to life in a fluid "still-life." Alexa Meade has long been a subject of our fascination and awe, as she transforms live models into living paintings in both gallery and performance settings. She brings paintings to life, so to speak. Tonight, June 6, at the National Portrait Gallery Museum in Washington, DC, Meade will create a pair of portraits with live models—one in a black-and-white scene and a second on a similar, but full-color set, with viewers being able to watch and interact with the process.

We have shown the work of Alexa Meade on the site before, but we saw it again this morning and wanted a reminder on just how remarkable the results are of her real-life paintings can be. She covers her subjects in layers of paint until they in effect become a painting that exists in reality.
