Pardee's Picks: The Art of Matthew Bone (NSFW)

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, September 26, 2012
With his new work Matthew Bone continues to explore the visual language he created as a child when massive unmonitored media consumption informed his worldview...

Pardee's Picks: The Art of Chris Ryniak

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, September 25, 2012
Detroit native slash critter-lover slash Sculptor slash illustrator slash great nerdy father Chris Ryniak is a man of few words. When I recently asked him about his art career, he simply said this...

Juxtapoz x Alex Pardee Costume Party

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, September 25, 2012
We can't do a special Alex Pardee curated Halloween issue without having a costume party, too. On Saturday, October 6 at Mars Bar in San Francisco, Juxtapoz and the Zerofriends team will be hosting a party at Mars Bar, a costume party, a costume party for which Alex will be judging you and giving the best costume a prize.

Pardee's Pick: The Art of Cody Schibi

Juxtapoz // Monday, September 24, 2012
Two years ago, artist Dave Correia and I, along with filmmaker Stephen Reedy, drove across the USA over the course of a month, stopping in various towns, encouraging anyone and everyone to draw by offering to trade "a sketch for a sketch"

The Art of Allison Sommers

Juxtapoz // Sunday, September 23, 2012
I have been drawn to Allison Sommers' work since the moment I laid eyes on it simply because I had never seen anything like it before. I still haven't. Nothing screams juxtaposition more than Allison's seamless blend of soft and disgusting.

Japanese Horror Manga Reviews Part 2

Juxtapoz // Saturday, September 22, 2012
Last week I gushed over a few Japanese Horror Mangas in Part 1 of my "I don't know much about these but I love them" article. Well, not much has changed this week, as I still don't know much about the history and facts about the genre...

The Art of Johnny Ryan

Juxtapoz // Friday, September 21, 2012
I'm pretty sure the words "Johnny Ryan" mean "Fuck You" in Elvish or Klingon. That being said, a lot of people nowadays are scared to say "Johnny Ryan" to anyone, even half-assed quasi-celebrities that probably could use a good "Johnny Ryan",  because they're afraid of losing followers, or offending someone, or not being accused of "hatin on shit".

Alex Pardee Studio Visit with Brett Amory

Juxtapoz // Thursday, September 20, 2012
If you look up the word "amory" on Urban Dictionary, the number one definition states that "amory" is often used to describe Heaven, especially when used to describe the wonderful beacon of light. Though I doubt that oil painter Brett Amory is aware of this at all, as I stare at some of his ethereal and often eerie urban landscape paintings, the definition seems to fit the bill.

The Art of Matt Ritchie

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, September 19, 2012
There are no amount of jpgs or bandwidth that can convey the beauty that is Matt Ritchie's creativity. His artwork is simply something that HAS to be experienced in person. You see, in a subculture overrun with overstimulation, instant gratification and the notion that "bigger is always better", Matt Ritchie has taken an unheard-of approach to his art: subtlety, persistence, and passion.

Second Printing: Alex Pardee's Book, "Awful / Homesick" Out Now

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, September 18, 2012
Alex, take it from the top: "Due to popular demand and ridiculous prices on Ebay for the first printing, Zerofriends, Upper Playground & Gingko Press teamed up again to re-release it to you wonderful souls. I'm sorry to inform you though, that it's NOT in 3-D, unlike everything else that gets rereleased. But... it DOES have an all new cover and a new surprise twist ending!"
