The first time I visited Sam Kieth's studio, about 10 years ago, he shared cubicle space directly above The Spaghetti Factory. And he had a janitor. The last time I ventured up to Sam Kieth's studio, 6 years later, he was literally working (comfortably, might I add) in a duct-tape-wrapped mummy of a chair in an underground hideout in the forests of Placerville, CA. By underground I mean UNDERGROUND. There was dirt on top of the ceiling...

Too often in our genre an artist is sprung into the spotlight too early, before they've been able to properly grow, develop their technique and actually experience being a gallery artist as a real job. We've been showing N.C. Winters at Gallery1988 for almost 7 years now, and there is no one we've shown who's been able to improve and benefit from that process more than him.

Photoshop should be proud of itself. As a nerdy child growing up in the 80's, Photoshop was bullied by everyone from older traditional artists to graphic designers who loved painstakingly cutting out letters and transferring textures.
