It is important to pay homage, to honor and respect those that have gone above and beyond... to the tragically sexy. Over the course of time, album covers have supplied a surface for the musically inclined to express a visual erotica that can go hand in hand with their tracks. So on this very Tuesday, we present you with the Sexiest Album Covers we know.

You know we love a good LEGO art project, and we are really enjoying Aaron Savage's collection of famous album covers reimagined in LEGOS. We never thought Bowie, Pink Floyd, Saturday Night Fever or the Smiths would looks so good in LEGOS. Can you guess most of the covers? Plenty after the jump . . .

When we look back on some of the better albums we have listened to in the Jux offices this year, Lykke Li's Wounded Rhymes and Shabazz Palaces' Black Up were tops on our list. We just learned that artist and creative director Leif Podhajsky designed artwork for both artists this year, as well as a group of great underground musicians and projects.

We just received an advance copy of a great new book, Norton & Co's R. Crumb: The Complete Record Cover Collection. The content of the book extends back to 1966, when Janis Jopllin asked Crumb to draw the cover of her legendary record, Cheap Thrills.

The game one plays with each new Red Hot Chili Peppers album is how many times "California" is mentioned in the first single, or the character "Dani." For their newest LP, I'm With You, the Peppers brought in British artist, Damien Hirst, to create the album cover.

The newest LP from Justin Vernon's Bon Iver project, self-titled Bon Iver, has been receiving rave reviews across the music world. We enjoy it for some moody tunes in the late afternoon. Gregory Euclide, an artist who has shown with David B Smith Gallery in Denver in the past, is the artist behind the album cover of Bon Iver.

Besides being a talented fine artist based in San Francisco, Jason Jagel has built a dedicated body of work creating imagery surrounding underground hip-hop icons, Madlib and MF Doom. The latter work has found its way in a deluxe reissue of the classic MF Doom album Operation Doomsday. . .

We are still trying to do a bit of research to credit an artist with the cover of the new Beastie Boys Hot Sauce Committee Part Two album cover, but because in our new April 2011 "Art In the Streets" issue we give the Beastie Boys the nod as a major convergence point of hip-hop, punk, graffiti, street art, and fashion, we thought we would show you their great new pixel art cover. Full view after the jump . . .

The year 2010 was generous, at least commercially, for George Condo. The 5 album covers he created for Mr. Kanye West were extraordinary both in content and controversy, and after eyeing Condo's work for quite some time, we were thrilled to hear about his "Mental States" retrospective on display at New Museum in Manhattan starting next Wednesday, January 26. More after the jump . . .

A few years ago (January 2008), we featured the great Jazz and Classical album cover artist, some call the "Original Album Cover Artist," Alex Steinweiss. In 1938, as a 23-year old, Steinweiss transformed the music industry that had previously sold records in blain brown paper sleeves. Steinweiss made the music come alive with coinciding artwork that reflected the music and mood that was found on vinyl. Some classic Steinweiss work after ther jump . . .
