We have written on the site before about how big of fans we are of the drawings of Moonassi, aka Daehyun Kim, and we ran across the new album cover the artist created for the band Reedbeds and their album Basement Grotto. Done in conjunction with the label, SicSic, we love the simple elegance of a ink of paper drawing. You have to check the details after the jump . . .

May 2012 cover artist, El Mac, just completed a nice assignment/project for No Doubt; the album cover of their newest LP, Push and Shove, due in stores on September 18, 2012. Mac painted four acyrlic on wood panels of each band member, and each panel makes the whole of the cover.

As you may know by now, we are heading to SF's historic Golden Gate Park this weekend (August 10—12) as curators of all the artwork at the 2012 Outside Lands Music and Art Festival. Seeing that we work with a bunch of artists who make album cover artwork for some of the biggest bands in the world, we decided to celebrate Outside Lands by ranking our favorite album covers of those bands playing at this year's festival. That means Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, The Walkmen, Grandaddy... just go and see for yourself.

Famed NYC photographer, Ryan McGinley, is no stranger to music photography. His haunting series following Morrissey as well as his recent Grids series at Team Gallery all capture music culture in unique ways. McGinley recently shot the cover of Bat For Lashes' newest comeback LP, The Haunted Man. A sliver of nudity after the jump . . .

And why is Baroness' Yellow & Green so important to you and I? Well, John Baizley, who was featured in our April 2012 issue and illustrated the cover of this album, is the frontman of band, Baroness. And the album is really good. If you want some good heavy, and what Pitchfork refers to as sludge rock, this will set you free this afternoon. So good.

Two things to be excited about: one, Dinosaur Jr. is coming out with a new album, I Bet On Sky, this September 18, and our friend, Travis Millard, did the album cover artwork. When we saw the artwork last week, we said to ourselves, that looks familiar. After exhaustive research, our suspicions were confirmed.

Stanley Donwood, who has ceated the visual identity for superband Radiohead for nearly 20 years, will be opening a new series of works at Subliminal Projects on April 28, 2012, with the exhibition Lost Angeles. Continuing on Donwood's theme set with his London Views series, Lost Angeles will be highlighted by a 18-foot apocalyptic panorama of the City of Angels being destroyed by fire, flood and meteor storm.

David Marsh must like a good Pantone swatch, because in order to digitally recreate classic albums with Pantone swatches, he had to use over 1,369 solid color swatches for each reference to the Smiths, or Nirvana, or Roxy Music, or Pink Floyd. Marsh created a nice series of album covers that puts him in the Venn Diagram space where the two circles intersect between graphic design nerd and Matt Pinfield.

George Condo has now been collaborating with celebrated hip-hop and pop star Kanye West for a few years now, and it looks like the fine artist has just completed the cover for West's "Thera Flu" single. The piece is unmistakenably Mr. Condo.
