Watch: Mark Mothersbaugh has a Wild Imagination and Good Advice

Music // Wednesday, September 18, 2013
We are big fans of the mind of Mark Mothersbaugh. From Rugrats to Life Aquatic, and aside from co-founding Devo, the man has composed an absolutely insane amount of music for tv shows and movies and along the way created all kinds of art. In this video for an event at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club, Mothersbaugh talks about his 3am work habits, gives some sagely advice on technology and art, and rocks out with the weirdest presets on an organ. A nice little watch for sure.

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, July 24, 2013
As we did last summer, Juxtapoz is teaming up with the Ace Hotel Palm Springs for a little summer hangout session in the desert. The very hot, pool-oriented, modern architecture desert setting, if you will. Last year Sage Vaughn and Father John Misty headlined the weekend, and this year, Jux is lucky to participate with School Night and Ace Hotel's "Summer School" art and education program, featuring artist-taught workshops with Kozyndan, Michelle Valigura, Marcelo Gomes, Kayla Mattes, and a special print pop-up shop hosted by Poster Child Prints.

Juxtapoz // Sunday, June 30, 2013
From our good friends at the Ace Hotel: "Thinking Cap is an evolving series of inquiries into the creative processes of experimental artists, musicians and personalities. It's an open-ended journey through the circuitry of the inspired." And to kick start the Thinking Cap series, they document illustrator Evan B Harris, who painted one of the first murals at the Ace Hotel Portland property.

The Fifty and Fifty State Mottos Project, curated by Dan Cassaro takes fifty designers, one per state, have illustrated their state motto, creating something steeped in history yet modern and unique — a kind of designer's atlas. Now, do you know the state capitals?
