Skull Tat by Big Gus

Tattoo // Tuesday, November 13, 2012
Big Gus is a master of Black and Grey photorealistic tattoo and this skull he did at the Las Vegas Tattoo expo is a testament to that. Big Gus began tattooing at the age of 14, pressed to pick up the tattoo gun by the rough crowd he hung around with. A self taught artist, he started tattooing professionally at age 22 out of Distinctive Ink in Pico Rivera. Nowadays you can find him at Art Junkies Tattoo in Hesperia, CA.

Traditional Tattoo Flash by D.E. Hill

Tattoo // Tuesday, November 13, 2012
We are really digging this flash by tattoo artist D.E. Hill -- nothing more badass than a panther head pierced by a bunch of bloodied intersecting daggers. Hill works at Searchlight Tattoo in Warner Robins GA.

References vs. Reproductions

Tattoo // Monday, November 12, 2012
A really important guest post from tattooer Mark Duhan on Tattoo Snob about referencing vs. reproducing the work of other artists along with some images of tattoos he redesigned. "Recently, I’ve had a few clients come in with photos of custom tattoos in the hopes that I will duplicate them. The Tattooed Man

Tattoo // Monday, November 12, 2012
Interesting political piece from Billy Morrow Jackson (1926-2006) of Uncle Sam tattooed with the faces of the "Birmingham Four." This piece, entitled The Tattooed Man, is part of a series of civil rights drawings that were created from 1962-1964, though it still has tremendous implications today (both for civil rights and tattoo).

Flash for a Cause

Check out this sheet of Hurricane Sandy flash from the guys over at Da Vinci Tattoo on Long Island. During a benefit last Friday, the shop donated the proceeds of these tattoos to hurricane victims close to home... Good tattoos for a good cause!

Geometric Blackwork from Tomas Tomas

Tomas Tomas is another artist from London's Into-You Tattoo. Using the human form as a canvas, he creates large geometric body suits and mandalas, using black ink and stippling to give the illusion of shading. (Also, we love how he edits his tattoo photos to be pattern on pattern.)
