'When I was in kindergarden I was a pretty good kid. There were a couple bad kids in my class and I made a concious decision to join them as soon as the first grade started. I would, from that point on, be a bad kid. I only lasted in schools till grade 8 and I was into bad shit, punkrock, stealing, skateboarding, graffiti, drugs and rockaberry coolers. I sold drugs on and off cause I was bad, then I was hooked on booze and drugs cause I'm bad and now i tattoo cause it's a bad ass thing to do...'

Born in South Africa in 1896 little is known about Van Dyn’s life, but what is known is suitably sensational and shocking. Other than being well know for having a highly decorated face in more conservative times Van Dyn was also known for being a regular at Speakers Corner in Hyde Park telling whoever would listen about his scandalous life. Tattooed by the great George Burchett in the 1930?s and rumoured to have worked for Al Capone as a gun runner...

Cait and Sam

Featured here is the noble Sam, as honored by his owner Cait, tattoo done by Kapten Hanna- originally from Sweden, she is a tattoo artist currently living and working in San Francisco.

Mike DeVries' Animal Tattoos

Tattoo // Tuesday, July 17, 2012
This guy's work just blows my freakin' mind. 'This is the third animal tattoo that I have done on (friend) Jinxi. Although it looks like a rooster its actually a Black Cochin Chicken. This is on the part of her leg that is dedicated to animals...  Cochins are known for their sweet personalities and endering mothering qualities. They became famous in the 1800s when this Chinese breed was given as a gift to Queen Victoria of England, who absolutely adored them.'  Mike DeVries
