Nuart Festival on Hypebeast

Street Art // Monday, March 16, 2015
As you know if you follow Juxtapoz Magazine, we spend a week each year in Norway for the Nuart Festival. For the 2014 festival, Nuart founder Martyn Reed was filmed by Hypebeast to capture the essence of not only the festival, but the town of Stavanger, Norway and the concept of bringing and developing art culture on the West Coast of Norway. We think you should watch because Reed gives a succinct message about the positive impacts that any art culture can have on a population regardless of genre.

Andreco: "Flags Up and Tongues Sticked Out", New Year Eve 2015, Bologna

Street Art // Wednesday, January 21, 2015
Since meeting Andreco during Nuart 2014, he has fast become one of our favorite street and public artists. The balance of interventions, performance, environmentally-focused art with just purely beautiful aesthetics makes the Italian artist one of our favorites (and soon to be featured in an upcoming issue). On New Year's Eve a few weeks ago, in Bologna, Italy, Andreco and friends staged "Flags Up and Tongues Sticked Out," a performance piece, with each friend asked to "paint one side of a flag and burn it with the burning sculpture Vecchione in the main square of Bologna for The New Year Eve."

Zio Ziegler in Oakland

Juxtapoz // Monday, November 17, 2014
Zio Ziegler just painted a massive wall in Oakland on the corner of 17th and Webster streets in conjunction with his solo exhibition, Intuitivism, which opened at LeQuiVive Gallery this Saturday, November 15. The artist explains his visual language and intentions: "I've often been asked what my symbols mean in relation to one another, and while I hint at their meanings with a reference in a title, those meanings are as ephemeral as the process itself...
