Last week at Perry Rubenstein Gallery in NYC, Brooklyn's Faile opened up a new solo exhibition, Bedtime Stories. It had been a long time since we had spoke with street art turned gallery instituition, Faile, and we sent our NYC correspondent, Brock Fetch to speak with the duo and see what how the new work has evolved . . .

Quel Beast is a street artist based in Brooklyn, NY. He said in a recent interview that his name, Quel Beast, comes from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's where Audrey Hepburn states, "He’s sweet when he isn’t drunk, but let him start lapping up the vino and, oh golly, quel beast!”

Normally, street artists are relegated to illegal or undercover efforts to get their work known - very rarely do they get the opportunity to work together with the municipalities and property owners to transform a neighborhood.

Canadian street artist Jabari Elliot, AKA Elicser has been flashing his talent around Toronto and contributing to the steadily flourishing graf culture there. In his upcoming exhibit at the Show & Tell Gallery, “Keep On”, this respected artist strives to push his work to the next level.

Ed Templeton, famous skater, artist and vegan, has a show of his paintings (and maybe a few photos if we're lucky) called The Fogged Mirror coming up in January at Roberts & Tilton in Los Angeles - details on his site. He also runs the Toy Machine Bloodsucking Skateboard Company and takes photos that rule and generally inspires the rest of us. 1000%.

This week's Reader Art consists of three submissions by girls and three by guys, but all of girls. A range of depictions of the female form from Beverly Hogue, Isabel Guimond, Joshua Petker, Kris Knight, Michael Church, and Tee Davis. Next week's theme: Black & white.

This week's Reader Art has one of the scariest portraits we've ever seen - a pen and ink drawing by Fourteen who does Gallery of the Absurd, the famously brutal celebrity ego-deflation art blog. Along more traditional lines of fright, Colin Johnson, Jeff Cohen, Kamala Dolphin-Kingsley, Molly Crabapple and Scott Saw sent in fabulous contributions.
