The Beast Brothers

The Beast Brothers infuse their work with influences from Aztec and Mayan art as well as Day of the Dead Calaveras and contemporary street fashion. This pair of twins has created memorable works for Nike, Kidroot, Reebok, Coachella, Bacardi and Vans. They have also travelled the world teaching customizing techniques to fans and aspiring toy designers. Carlos and Ernesto East continue to produce paintings, illustrations and sculptures in Mexico City, Miami and New York.

  Adam Simpson studied at the Edinburgh College of Art and the Royal College of Art in London. His work encompasses a mixture of commissioned projects and self-initiated work, always with a strong emphasis on drawing. He has contributed to major exhibitions and book fairs in London, New York, Edinburgh and Bologna as well as numerous Japanese Art museums. His work has been shortlisted for a British Design Award and in 2009 he was included in the Art Director's Club Young Guns awards.

This mentality allows him to improvise and mess things up while working, which strongly reflects in his pictures. With a mixture of humor and strong sexual energy, Dekker creates compositions that are out of the ordinary. These photos are powerful and unapologetic.

Michele Parliament combines human anatomy and natural scientific illustration to create fascinating surrealist hybrid images. By representing the human anotomy in monochrome and overlaying birds, fish or shells, she gives the impression that the body itself is an environment in which tehse other living beings exist. These illustrations are fascinating imaginings of an alternative vision of what goes on inside living organisms.

Joseph Harmon is a Portland-based illustrator and toy artist with a penchant for seizure-inducing color combinations, fuzzy monsters, and laser beam blasting boobs. We love his crazy compositions, depicting a topsy-turvy universe where the laws of gravity and good taste have no sway. Jump on in and ride the wacky wave through Harmon's vibrant, silly, bawdy, and marvelously childlike imagination.

Beware of a Man's Shadow

For our last June post on our featured topic, we hope you enjoy this intriguing animated fashion editorial, illustrated and directed by Amsterdam-based art director and illustrator Tara Dougans. Spanning the styles of multiple European designers, "Beware of a Man's Shadow," inspired by the Burmese proverb "beware of a man's shadow and a bee's sting," is a collection of pencil works featuring seven of the 2012 season's most playful menswear pieces, juxtaposing the subtle stoicism of menswear imagery with a cheeky animated wink.

Spiros Halaris is a multi-disciplinary illustrator, designer, and art director. He works in a variety of media, often combining mixed media and digital aspects to several types of visuals and illustrations. The sophisticated yet sensitive way he uses his materials, playing between light and shade, color or black & white, capture the pulse and style of his subjects. So far in his career he has built up an enviable list of clients including Harrods, ELLE, Printemps, Revlon, Dolce & Gabbana, Topshop, and Tom Ford, to name a few.
