Completed in 2004, Umschreibung (or rewriting) is a surreal spiral steel staircase built by Danish-Icelandic artist, Olafur Eliasson. The staircase resides permanently in the courtyard of the global accounting firm KPMG in Munich. You may remember Eliasson’s name from his New York City Waterfalls project back in 2008, where the artist created four man-made waterfalls in the New York Harbor, one being directly under the Brooklyn Bridge that was around 100 feet tall.
