Similar to the evasive plant Kudzu here in America, the Australian willow tree has become a nuisance and problem for other vegetation, even affecting the habitat of fish and local wildlife. Dougherty recognizes the over abundance of the willow tree saplings and sticks utilizing them for this outdoor sculpture in part of his “Stickwork” series. We highlighted the artist’s work in the past, which can be seen in this previous post.
