jux_haring7 Opening this Friday March 16th, 2012, the Brooklyn Museum will be exhibiting a large-scale retrospective of Keith Haring's work. The exhibition begins with Haring's arrival to New York in 1978 through 1982 when he began his studio practice alongside public and political work in the streets.  Some preview photos of the work and show surfaced on the web today and we are truly excited to go see this show in person!

The retrospective of this proliferous period in Haring's career is composed of 155 works on paper, experimental videos, and over 150 archival objects including sketchbooks, journals, exhibition flyers, posters, subway drawings, and documentary photographs. During this formative part of Haring's career he befriended many fellow artists like Basquiat and developed into one of the best-known American artists of the twentieth century.

Check out our cover story on Keith Haring from June 2010.
