Jean Labourdette (Turf One), Mike Davis, and Shawn Barber "Troika"
On the occasion of the Art Tattoo Show convention, as Montreal becomes the international destination for tattoo artists and enthusiasts, three artists with prominent presence in the tattoo world will highlight the fine art side of the subculture. From Montreal, Los Angeles, and San Francisco respectively, Jean Labourdette, Shawn Barber, and Mike Davis have joined forces to present TROÏKA at Yves LaRoche Gallery, an exhibit of paintings and mixed-media sculptures that explores how tattoo imagery has influenced fine art and vice versa.September 11, 2015
Mike Davis "A Blind Man's Journey Continues" @ Copro Gallery, LA
We are excited about this one, as Mike is one of our favorite Bay Area painters and his studio is right down the street from our home office in Hunter's Point, San Francisco. With that, Copro Gallery presents a solo exhibition and book signing by artist Mike Davis. "A Blind Man's Journey continues" is Davis’ first solo show with Copro and will contain many paintings from his new book "Blind Man's Journey". Mike will be in attendance at the opening reception on March 21, and available for signing books.March 20, 2015

Possessing a multi-faceted set of interests, Mike Davis began painting in 1997, and attributes much of his inspiration to watching his mother pursue craft projects during his childhood, and immersing himself in art history throughout his career. From helping his mother with activities ranging from woodworking, hand-tooling leather, and remodeling the family’s home, to engaging with ancient art and Netherlandish painting from the Northern Renaissance, Davis is a self-taught painter,October 01, 2014
The Art of Mike Davis
With no formal art education under his belt, the considerable talent of artist and tattooist Mike Davis is all the more impressive. Beginning his tattoo career in 1988, in 1992 he started working at San Francisco's Everlasting Tattoo where he continues to work to this day. Although Davis' vivid tattoo style differs greatly from his lush oil paintings, both achieve a remarkable degree of technical and artistic excellence.September 03, 2012
