In her photographic series “The Protagonists”, artist Natalia Wiernik explores the relationships between eccentric characters. Whether the relationship is through blood relation, emotional ties, or shared interests, Wiernik hides the shared connection between her subjects and represents it through a patterned background paired with similarly patterned garments on her subjects. Each photograph is a cohesive image that visually creates a connection between each person. Wiernik invites the viewer to draw their own conclusion as to what ties these persons together, but warns not to judge too quickly.
