Antoine D’Agata took up photography later in his life, about ten years ago. He’s currently 53. His images depict what he is intimately close to in his life before he picked up the camera; he uses it as a tool to express his perception of reality. These photographs capture from the inside the life of sex obsession, prostitution, and drug addiction. His reality is a nightmare, entrenched in violence, sex, and drugs. These images of himself and others partaking in blurry sexual acts seem halfway between a Francis Bacon painting and the film Requiem for a Dream.
