"Grapevine" by Susan LipperPhotography // Friday, 07 Mar 2014
Susan Lipper's project “Grapevine” is a collision of the photographer's personal experience and the highly unusual town of Grapevine Hollow, West Virginia. She was travelling through on a roadtrip but was so fascinated by the town that she chose to stay for a while. Lipper’s diary is abysmal and bold; with her flash she illuminates the near anarchic town. There are destroyed houses, lots of drinking, strange hunting scenes, KKK members, and religious fanatics. Lipper’s images create a dark narrative of an apocalyptic town.
