Garry Winogrand @ the Metropolitan Museum, New YorkPhotography // Friday, 27 Jun 2014
Winogrand’s images of New York, Los Angeles, rodeos, and zoos present a compositional controlled disorder that marked him as one of the greatest street photographers of all time, although he openly detested to being categorized as so. His raw photographs of urban scenes thoroughly documented public reactions to cameras, with subjects both embracing and rejecting this form of attention.
Following its stay at the Met Museum, the exhibition travels next to the Jeu de Padume in Paris (October 14, 2014 through January 25, 2015) and then to the Fundacion MAPFRE in Madrid (March 3 through May 10, 2015).
