We went to Bold Hype Gallery to attend the opening reception of 35 MM, the new Phil Noto solo show in New York City. Inspired on motion pictures, his new paintings portray some of the most enchanting moments and characters of iconic films.
Phil, with his renowned retro palette and style, reproduces recognizable scenes in films that naturally creates a dialog and a boundary between the viewer and his work. Characters that we’ll always love like Leon, The Professional, Private Leonard ‘Gomer Pyle’ Lawrence from Full Metal Jacket or Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s are some of the protagonist in Noto’s representations.
The work of this prolific artist will be on display until November 10, 2012.
