WEBBER 939 are thrilled to announce the opening of The Sixth Day, the first solo Los Angeles exhibition of work by Argentine-American photographer Alessandra Sanguinetti. The exhibition brings together works from across Sanguinetti’s singular career encompassing the dusty farmlands of western Buenos Aires province and the remote, eerie Wisconsin town of Black River Falls.

Over the course of her career, Sanguinetti has become renowned for a practice which interrogates mythologies of all kinds, honoring lives that are usually unseen. In her earliest body of work, On The Sixth Day, life and death on a rural farm is explored through the ever-curious eyes of its animals; The Adventures of Guille and Belinda, depicts the dreams and mysteries of a uniquely female friendship, set against the backdrop of the masculine world of the Argentine Pampas; while her most recent work Some Say Ice, offers an austere look at the melancholic realities underpinning our lives.

Viewed together for the first time, this exhibition offers a unique chance to experience the distinct world of Sanguinetti’s photographs, one that is as brutal as it is beguiling, where everyday life is always infused with dreams and desires.
