On March 1, 2019, the crew behind the well respected Wall\Therapy art and community intervention project in Rochester, New York and 1975 Gallery will be celebrating a decade of their activity in the local art scene. Just Folks will be a more formal retrospective of the influence of their program, following their companion exhibition Dearly Departed - Ten Years of 1975 in October 2018.

We've been regularly reporting from Rochester, NY, covering some fantastic murals painted there, but also supporting the influence that this project had on both local and global art scene. This show is meant to give an overview of the selected artists who grew/came of age with the gallery and emerged as names in their own right.

“Just Folks” is a phrase coined between the curators of the project to describe the power of the regular person to make an incredible difference in their community. Over the years many "regular people" with great artistic talent created some of their best works there and put the place on the world's street art map. Curated by Erich S. Lehman, the show will include works by heavy hitters such as Conor Harrington, How and Nosm, Faith XLVII, Chloe Early, Addam Yekutieli aka Know Hope, etc, along with a big list of other artists who contributed to the Wall\Therapy legacy over the years. The exhibition will take place in RIT's new City Art Space, located downtown, and a percentage of all artwork sales will be donated to the project. —Sasha Bogojev
