Lazarides Rathbone welcomes Valencia-based siblings, Miaz Brothers, to the gallery this May with their long-awaited solo exhibition, Dematerialized: A New Contemporary Vision. The duo will be launching their London debut through June 15, 2014, with a comprehensive body of new and recent large-scale works in their distinctive air-brushed style created through the meticulous layering of spraypaint on canvas.
Featuring a selection of works from their hugely popular Antimatter series, the exhibition will include a diverse range of portraits in their signature blurry style where the images are identifiable yet diguised at the same time. T
he Italian-born brothers offer a unique, experiential approach to modern portraiture through their choice of medium: "we use it to represent the fact that we are composed of infinite particles in continuous evolution, which change in tandem with the complex reality that surrounds us". The result of this technique encourages the audience to identify imagery through mnemonic associations rather than personalised systems of visual identification.
