Jeff Koons Proposes Dangling Train Over High Line

March 28, 2012

One of the largest tourist draws to New York City has been the newly developed High Line, and artist Jeff Koons has proposed hanging a massive steam locomotive over it dangling from a crane. The sculpture would be a replica 1943 Baldwin 2900 steam locomotive titled “Train.” The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has been researching the possibilities to acquiring the artwork and it is estimated to cost $25, million all together. While it’s a novel idea reminding visitors of what once was, we could think of more practical ways to spending $25 mil.
