19 Karen Contemporary Artspace will host its final mixed format exhibition of 2023, featuring six artists from around the globe. Showing concurrently alongside five mini solo xxhibitionists is artist Joaquin Valdez Macher, who will be making the trek from Chicago to Mermaid Beach, Australia, to open his Happy Place. Valdez Macher is driven by line and striking colour. His work is illustrative yet, rare in this style, imparts a depth of narrative that is seamlessly transferred and subtly emotive. With grabs of both still-life and genre paintings, this body of work has us fully engaged, bouncing enthusiastically from one happy place to the next.

Alongside the solo show will be presentations with artists Amber Kingi, Caitlyn Taylor and Sean Edward Whelan (all from Australai), as well as Nector (from Colombia) and Silas (from Netherlands). You can see some of their works in the gallery abo e. Playing with aspects of scale and surrealism, figures and faces, together these series of shows create momentum like a herd of wild horses on the bolt.
