If you have received your copy of the December 2013 issue (and if you subscribe now you can get that issue for free), then you know we had a grand feature on NYC-based Eric White, written by Carlo McCormick. And if you saw that piece, you know that we were printing it in conjunction with White's solo show, "All of This Has Not Occurred," that opened at Martha Otero Gallery in LA this past weekend. We plan these things.
The show featured a collection of new large scale, cinematic, satirical paintings by White, but a few surprises as well. In the side of the gallery, White created a mini-exhibition, "1/3 Scale Retrospective." Inside this space, White commissioned painters from China to recreate some of this most famous paintings, and finding out that some were too complex for the outsourcing artists to complete. A nice touch . . .
Check out the show, which is open through January 18, 2014.
