The essence of Alexandros Vasmoulakis' work is rooted in his professional background in the advertising industry, which eventually combined with classic elements of Western Painting, modern graphic sensibilities and romanticism and magical realism of contemporary European muralists and street artists. He recently sent me a shot of his largest "mobile" piece to date, checking in at roughly 19' x 33'. While on the scaffold, A.V. spent some time providing a visual commentary on the union of two opposites; the still as yet unnamed work was used as part of a wedding ceremony for a couple of friends recently. The image does however, also serve as a teaser for his solo show this December in Athens, Greece.
Alexandros Vasmoulakis has traveled extensively throughout Europe, The Middle East and Asia producing large scale outdoor works that exist amongst the constant bombardment of corporate commercials. You can see more at vasmou.com .
