Hello!

My name is Duy and I'm a young artist(17) from Montreal.
I use windsor newton brush and india ink for my drawings and the colors are on photoshop, except for the ear, its made with gouache.

To see a better version of the images and more, you can go to my blog:

Let me know what you think!

You re 17 and making these clean/sharp works of art...that, yes may have obvious strong influences from other artists (whose work doesn't)...but hey..
i wonder what you will be making by the time you reach 30?..
Keep it up boy!

ps: i love the ear (could be the fact its the only one not computer processed, and you have managed to give it some extra detail with your color blending).

hot holy fuck, I love these.  Especially the Daniel Johnston one!  Good times!   I love the discomfort and the vibe of the other images. That vibe is what me and a friend like to call " Nightmare Hell Shit" . They also remind of both graphic novels, Velvet Glove Cast in Iron and BlackHole, which I recommend anyone and everyone to read.  Also your level of detail and precision is far greater, in my opinion.

it,  thanks a lot

that really doesn't tell me anything. I mean your purpose. Does your work have meaning to you and if so explain.

They are well done, but besides eye candy, I see nothing besides "hey look at how weird and gross I can be."

paix!

en anglais, d'ac? ;0)My point was... when I was a kid, I learned to draw from comic books too. My notebooks were full of skulls with knives going through them, the weird, the grotesque, stuff like you draw. What I tell you is to keep drawing like there is no tomorrow. Draw your azz off, like you are. That will make you a master craftsman, a solid "technician", but LIVE LIFE so you have something to draw, so you find your own voice. You are a skilled technician. All young artists are derivative. We all find ourselves by our failure to be like others. What seperates the 'best', from the VERY 'best', is the life we breathe into our work. I am NOT saying you aren't living life to the fullest, by no means. I'm saying with your technical skills you can be a force to reckoned with so keep on living to the max!  It takes a long time to tackle art on philosophical terms. Art is not craftmanship and craftsmanship is not art, BUT an artist who has the technical & facile skills to express himself with muscle is a force to be reckoned with. Encore, young man... the future is yours! Abientot!
