If you have no purpose, you have no reaction. Your work will be meaningless and therefore any response is meaningless as well. So why post at all?

Good piont Winfred.......What I said was tired and lazy...sorry. I have quite a few drawings
and draw most days so wondered how long I would last posting daily, and maybe make some new friends on the way.... I suppose that is my purpose.

I don't like mindless work. The reason why art is "art", is because anyone can't do it. An artist has a honed skill, so sharpened that people put it on a different level...it is an "art."

However, that doesn't mean that the work in question is all super-hyper real. It just means that there is something that separates it from the norm. In this case, your use of line.

The way you have used line is typical and overdone. Because these pieces are mostly line, you should play with the different kinds of line.

thick vs. thin
straight vs. curve

Just because these are line drawings does not mean that you cannot create depth. It does not mean that composition skills are not important. As a matter of fact, they are even more important, due to the fact that the drawings are so simple.

I agree, that you should try some dimension, but i don't think your work is mindless, nor is it simple. as Winfred said, you have a honed talent, and not everyone can make art. not even the simplest of it.
a great way to add some depth is simply by using different sized tips on your pens...assuming you draw in ink. if not, maybe you can try different hardnesses on your graphite!
i think its great you draw everyday, keep it up!

winfred :to a degree i see what you're saying. i also think that there is a lot of "art" out there that is totally meaningless, that has a great deal of reaction from the public. like some of todays "pop" art, or "low brow."
i think aesthetic qualities have to be taken into consideration, not just subject.

aestheticThe branch of philosophy that deals with the nature and expression of beauty, as in the fine arts.

True.
However, a lot of people just try to mimic styles just because it is "in vogue." Sadly...many times they disgrace the style because they don't have the skill, training, eye, whatever...to actually pull it off.

Agreed. There are many paintings that just look cool and are fun to look at, but what do you do when it isn't even cool to look at? No "eye candy."

You can't admire the craftsmanship because there isn't any....
and you can't understand the message because there isn't one.
Many times the public reacts because the public doesn't know better. That's why you take art appreciation in school, so you can understand what you are looking at and why it is important.

super like. Specially the second and third pieces. That said, don't let anyone tell you how to do what you do. That's why art is done by an artist, not several artists (generally). It'll grow when it's supposed to grow
