There is overall a fascination with women-as-children that is cropping up more and more frequently in our lowbrow art.   The Japanese anime tradition, emblematic of the same sort of subculture, continues to send global seismic shock waves throughout the art world

Is our culture simply cannibalizing our youth in this quest to find the edge of tittilation?

Is lowbrow art proving itself to be lacking in content and depth, and instead flirts with Bill Henson-like sensationalism?

"Eyes are windows to the soul"

I think perhaps this sort of mass visual phenomena is a trademark of the current times. It's... 'in fashion' if you will. Perhaps even sort of an interpretation for seeking identity... just tossing a small idea out based on the phrase I posted at the beginning of this entry.  Hard to pinpoint; I'm sure you will garner many ideas and opinions on this interesting topic.

In my opinion, its a progression of sorts. Lowbrow art seems to be falling into a trend of a more cartoonish style of art. I believe this is due to the increasing influence of street art and animation styles genres of art. Once the next trend begins its climb of the hill of popularity, the big-eyed girls will go the way of the buffalo.
