"...or paint something about the current problems of today"

Several artists mentioned recently coordinating an aerosol attack on Wall Street - or wall street types in their own hoods - all with the same msg. like doing a Wobblies symbol from the 1930s or something

We invent new stories and create new reasons for our existence, making it up as we go along, trying on this and trying on that in a sort of darwinistic cultural evolution.

The old stories and old forms of expression no longer are effective in elevating our culture.  Religion seems to have lost its grip on people and we are searching for new stories and new directions.

There is overall a fascination with women-as-children that is cropping up more and more frequently in our lowbrow art.   The Japanese anime tradition, emblematic of the same sort of subculture, continues to send global seismic shock waves throughout the art world

Is our culture simply cannibalizing our youth in this quest to find the edge of tittilation?

Is lowbrow art proving itself to be lacking in content and depth, and instead flirts with Bill Henson-like sensationalism?
