Title: Patrick Gannon - Flowing Cut Paper Art Post by: Patrick Gannon on December 20, 2009, 11:44:11 PM Hey there, I'm Patrick Gannon.
I'm a cut paper artist living in Tokyo. Thanks for checking out my work. All my work is a collage of natural and fantastical imagery built up in layers of paper, often laid out on wood. My newest work is on my blog PaperCuts: http://www.pgannon.com/papercuts/ (http://www.pgannon.com/papercuts/) and you can see more of my work on my website: http://www.pgannon.com (http://www.pgannon.com) If you are in Venice, CA before January 2, 2010, don't miss the show going on right now at C.A.V.E. Gallery. It's called "The Way of Flow" with a bunch of my work alongside a talented group of thirteen international artists, allinspired by the flow of wind, water, air and breath and what this movement means to life, thought and emotion. Check out the show C.A.V.E.: http://www.cavegallery.net/ (http://www.cavegallery.net/) Title: From the Bamboo Forests of the Night size: 8 x 10 inches medium: cut paper on board (http://www.pgannon.com/images/blog_images/BambooForests_juxtapoz.jpg) Title: Words of Carrion Comfort size: 17.2 x 29 cm ( about 6 3/4 x 11 1/2″ ) medium: cut paper on wood (http://www.pgannon.com/images/blog_images/CarrionComfort_juxtapoz.jpg) Title: Traveling Cloak size: 302 x 240mm (about 11 7/8 x 9 1/2") unframed medium: cut paper on wood (http://www.pgannon.com/images/blog_images/TravellingCloak_juxtapoz.jpg) Title: Oh, The Things You Say On a Winter's Day medium: cut and torn paper/wood size: 8" x 10" (http://www.pgannon.com/images/blog_images/ThingsYouSay_juxtapoz.jpg) Title: This Flow Will Not Be Stemmed size: 16 1/2 x 11 3/4 inches ( 42 x 29.7 cm ) medium: cut paper on wood (http://www.pgannon.com/images/blog_images/FlowStemmed.jpg) Title: Re: Patrick Gannon - Flowing Cut Paper Art Post by: Katie on December 21, 2009, 04:24:54 PM Great work, Patrick!

I think an octopus would make a great subject for a future piece. Whataya think? Believe it or not, I was just thinking the exact same thing. Might've been the sea air I was breathing, but I started ruminating that it might be time to do tentacles again. 'til then, you might enjoy these: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pgannon/175460251/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/pgannon/175460251/) http://www.pgannon.com/papercuts/2009/03/18/flailing-purple-tentacles-of-beastie-destruction/ (http://www.pgannon.com/papercuts/2009/03/18/flailing-purple-tentacles-of-beastie-destruction/) Title: Re: Patrick Gannon - Flowing Cut Paper Art Post by: Lee Duncan on January 07, 2010, 11:00:19 AM Quote Believe it or not, I was just thinking the exact same thing. Especially the purple tentacle one. I can't wait to see what you do next. Title: Re: Patrick Gannon - Flowing Cut Paper Art Post by: Patrick Gannon on October 04, 2010, 11:11:16 PM For those of you who will be in the Tokyo area later this month (or who've been looking for an excuse to fly to Japan!), my first solo show, Night of the Yokai - Patrick Gannonの摩訶不思議な切絵展 will be opening at Gallery Cafe Enyen October 25, 2010 and run until November 7th.
In addition to the cut paper art I've been working on for the past couple years, I'm also experimenting with some big twists on paper art. I think it's gonna be very, very cool. You can read about the event on my blog: http://www.pgannon.com/papercuts/2010/10/04/gallery-show-night-of-the-yokai-gallery-cafe-enyen/ (http://www.pgannon.com/papercuts/2010/10/04/gallery-show-night-of-the-yokai-gallery-cafe-enyen/) Or check it out on the Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=163454433667464&ref=mf (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=163454433667464&ref=mf) Title: Re: Patrick Gannon - Flowing Cut Paper Art Post by: G.R.
