This is Trans1’s first solo show with work on canvas as well as original blackbook sketches. Graffik Gallery in London is delighted to be hosting this exhibition by one of London's most promising graffiti artists. The show aptly titled 'Urban Soldier Off the Wall' will run from November 27th until December 6th.
Trans1 has a distinctive and incomparable style. Discovering his work on the street will take your breath away. His world of gangstas, hoodies and lunatics is strictly black and white. Their faces seem to come at you from the surface of the walls snarling and biting.Larger than life and just ever so slightly distorted they are from a hyper-real reality. This is photo realistic graffiti at its best. Trans is a master of can control patiently and meticulously building up the layers. He does not need a brush for even the finest detail. Even the eyelashes of the restless, menacing faces are sprayed.
Trans1 is a London based graffiti artist that has been sparying since his teens in the early 80's. His style has refined from earlier script based work to black and white photo-realist oversized portraits of such angry characters as Jack Nicholson in The Shining, Heath Ledger as Joker in The Dark Knight or Mr T with his bad attitude.
This show gives us a unique insight into the process of Trans1’s development to this point of near perfection. The exhibition not only features large sized canvases of the images we are familiar with from London’s streets, but also displays highly rare and sought after blackbook sketches from years back.
A must see exhibition with the opportunity to buy excellent art and original sketches.
