Allison Adams, Pia SternMarch 18 - April 23Loft GalleryOpening reception: Thursday, March 18, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
If Adams is the earth, Stern is the sky in this exhibition featuring two bodies of work created from very different mediums. Adams’s fiber, filaments, and reclaimed plastic bags weave a language that speaks from a place within, inviting the viewer to a meeting with nature. Textural, fibrous, shiny, and tactile, her abstract art pieces are reminiscent ofclose-up details found in nature such as the velvety bark of a tree or the patterned curvatures of a leaf. Stern’s paintings suggest alogic of the heart, which she uses to guide her art-making process. Her painted and drawn figures and forms set within abstract fields combine to create rich, tactile, and vibrant expressions that allude to the individual’s psyche and one’s place in the natural world.
