ABOUT THE ARTIST Artist Jason Mecier has spent over 10 years creating outrageous 3-D mosaic portraits of his favorite pop culture icons. Each portrait is created from the celebrities own discarded objects and junk such as broken sunglasses, make-up, gum wrappers, jewelry, deodorant, shoes, and other items. Participants and celebrity clients include include Phyllis Diller, Rosie O’Donnell, Paris Hilton, Pam Anderson, Farrah Fawcett, Bjork, Sharon Stone, Melissa Etheridge, Florence Henderson, Parker Posey, Ricki Lake, RuPaul, Elvira, Pink, the Go-Go’s, the B52's, Scissor Sisters, Margaret Cho, Barbi Benton, Nancy Sinatra, Anna Nicole Smith, Tammy Faye, Morgan Fairchild, Tori Spelling, Rue McClanahan, Debbie Reynolds, Kathy Najimy, Gloria Steinem, Tura Satana, Susan Tyrrell, Mamie Van Doren, Sally Kellerman, Stepfanie Kramer, Joan Van Ark, Lydia Lunch, Allee Willis, Heidi Fleiss and others.
Jason’s artwork is featured in the new Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Book; Prepare to be Shocked!, and Taschen’s Illustration Now! Other clients include Wrigley's, Ford, Quaker, Albertsons, The Food Network, Neiman Marcus, Aveeno, Corona, MTV, W Hotel, Rolling Stone, Showtime, Entertainment Weekly, People, Glamour, Harpers, Seventeen, Nickelodeon, Cosmo Girl, Details, Soap Opera Weekly, The Advocate, The Village Voice and The New York Times. Jason hopes to one day trade art with Marilyn Manson, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Jane Seymore and Yoko Ono. Jason lives and works in San Francisco.
