Born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1967, Kareem Iliya graduated from the New York Institute of Fashion Technology in 1990, beginning his fashion career by working with Giorgio Armani and freelancing as a fashion illustrator. He uses watercolor and ink on paper to create his hauntingly graceful and modestly detailed images,which have appeared in Mademoiselle, The New Yorker, Vogue, and Harper's Bazaar, as well as in books, advertising campaigns, and exhibitions. In addition to his work as an illustrator, Iliya is also a well-respected menswear designer.
