Recycled Artwork from Mary Ellen CroteauIllustration // Monday, 04 Aug 2014
Chicago artist Mary Ellen Croteau has found a way to recycle a non-recyclable item, and turning what would end up in the trash into a true masterpiece. Mary carefully assembles the colored caps side by side and sometimes nests one cap inside another. Her artwork demonstrates the huge amount of waste we are sending into the environment each day. Mary successfully transforms trash into treasure, paying close attention to color, shadow and gradients when creating her portraits and seascapes. Through her work, Mary encourages us to think about how much plastic we are using on a day-to-day basis.
