Ominous Innocence by Jonas Lofgren

Illustration // Friday, 19 Jul 2013
1

Born in 1979 in Ulmeâ, Sweden, Jonas Löfgren employs the inherent simplicity of pencil and paper to create haunting, surreal landscapes, viewed from above as if trespassing through the dream world of another. Löfgren depicts somber environments of abandoned houses and warped perspectives interspersed with ancient forests, abstract geometric shapes, and solitary childlike figures who embody a sort of unsettling innocence. Each image acts as a single fragment in a larger, darker narrative of isolation, fear, and survival in a strange land, its inhabitants consigned to an uncertain future where silence and solitude reign supreme.
