The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago just opened an exhibition of extreme interest to us in New Chicago Comics, featuring the works of cartoonists and animators Jeffrey Brown, Lilli Carré, Paul Hornschemeier (who did the cover you see above), and Anders Nilsen. Anytime we see what you used to be perceived as outsider art, such as comics, in museum settings, there is a good feeling attached.
As the MCA writes, "In their own unique styles each of these artists expands and challenges the conventions of a visual art form for which Chicago continues to be renowned: the comic book."
