Preview: Lauren YS Solo Show @ Public, SFIllustration // Tuesday, 18 Feb 2014
Public is pleased to present Lauren YS' first solo show in San Francisco. Featuring a body of work united by persistent psychedelic characters and a vibrant signature palette, Lauren's work draws on the long-developed visual lexicon of her own surreality--a drippy world full of hidden monsters and built by matrices of lush linework.
Featuring a healthy spread of illustrations on paper, panel and canvas, Lauren's debut solo show serves as a colorful introduction to her work. Entitled "Behind You," the exhibition is a play on the theme of hidden things, as well as the physical space itself. After receiving her BA from Stanford in English and Art Practice, Lauren moved to San Francisco to pursue a career in illustration and fine art, and has since shown work all around the Bay and in select cities outside. Public Barber Salon is an establishment dedicated to supporting local artists, and has over the years represented artists such as Michele de la Menardiere and Joseph Martinez.
