Dimas Forchetti: Strange ReligonIllustration // Wednesday, 06 Mar 2013
The work of Brazilian artist Dimas Forchetti is full of detailed local symbolism, strange iconic elements and a touch of religious imagery. A little while back, hs he told us, "These new works are a little darker than they used to be. Unlike the latter, these new ones go deeper in aspects of religion that contemplate good and evil, being heavily influenced by "Umbanda", a Brazilian religion. It is worth mentioning that elements such as disease hypertrichosis and Indians are an influence in this new work as well."
