Dadamaino's Geometric PerceptionIllustration // Thursday, 16 Jan 2014
Dadamaino (Maino Eduarda Emilia) was born in 1935 in Milan, Italy. She was a self-taught painter who took up art after completing a medical degree. Dada, short for Dadamaino, was clearly ahead of her time in many ways, actively contributing to the avant-garde movement of the 1950s in Milan while researching geometric perception. One of Italy's most progressive artists, Dada participated in the feminist movement of the 1960s. In the 1970s, she developed original alphabet-like signs that she repeated obsessively in small, text-like formats on canvas. Dada was and is a completely facinating individual, do not overlook this one.
