Graduating in 2005 with his Masters of Fine Arts, Netherland artist Bart Nijstad says that everyday subjects are significant part of his works. He finds importance in creating a familiar world, stating "This world can be a wall plug, a swarm of crows or the interior of a train." Nijstad also incorporates dream sequences and what he calls "alienating events" into his works, creating seemingly normal scenes followed by stranger happenings, hoping to leave the viewer feeling curious and confused.
